Windows Server 2003 is a platform for building an infrastructure of connected applications, networks, Windows Server 2003and Web services, from the workgroup to the data centre.

Released on 24th April 2003, Windows Server 2003 is the follow-up to Windows Server 2000, incorporating compatibility and other features from Windows XP.

Windows Server 2003 provides a scalable, security-enhanced Web platform and enables new scenarios, including simplified branch server management, improved identity and access management, and more efficient storage management. It builds upon the increased security, reliability, and performance provided by previous versions of Windows Servers and is considered by Microsoft to be the cornerstone of their Windows Server System line of business server products.

Versions include Windows Server 2003 R2, Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, Datacenter Edition, x64-bit Editions and Small Business Server.
